SHANOSKY--Judith, died peacefully on August 3, 2015. The cause of death was
ovarian cancer, which she endured for eight years. She was 74. Born Judith Dornel Gasson in Reading, England, May 18, 1941, she emigrated from London in
1959, and made her home in New York City, Key West, Florida, and Westfield,
New Jersey. She received her BA and MA in Art History at Kean University in
New Jersey, where she ran a visiting artists lecture series in the 1980s.
Judith was a widely respected and prolific weaver. She read three or four
novels each week, was a mile-a-day swimmer and three-time marathon finisher.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Arthur Shanosky, her son
Mark, daughter-in-law Tanya, daughter Samantha and son- in-law John, two
grandsons, Primo and Pascal; and her brother and sister, Andrew and Rosemary
Gasson of London, England. In addition to her family, she is survived by
innumerable friends and fellow artists who will remember her for her passion,
intensity, generosity and enthusiasms. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly
requests donations be made in Judith's name to the Carol G. Simon Cancer
Center in Morristown Medical Center.
